Lists may be indented in the M*Modal Editor with the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+M. Like lists, the user is unable to format indented lists. Formatting of indented lists is completed after the document is submitted and rendering occurs. The responsibility of the editor is to identify when a list needs to be indented, but not formatting or presentation. Indented lists always appear bulleted in the M*Modal Editor.
The appearance of indented lists after rendering will vary by account and worktype. An example of how an indented list may appear after rendering is shown below. Formatting of indented lists that occurs during rendering includes:
•Enumeration or Bullet Formatting
•Spacing between List Items and Paragraphs
•Indentation and Tabbing
The most frequent use of indented lists is Multiaxial Diagnoses in both Admission Diagnoses and Discharge Diagnoses. This type of diagnosis is often preceded with AXIS I, AXIS II, etc. The indented list, or sub-list, for these diagnoses is used for proper indentation and formatting, as shown in the example below.
