The following is a step-by-step description of how to create the Data Dictionary that ChartNet requires for remote users to access the Advantage Database across the Internet. This is a one-time task.

 

1.Open the Advantage Data Architect on the Database Server

2.If the "ChartnetShared" dictionary does not appear in the left panel, then proceed

3.Select "Connection" menu

4.Select "Create New Dictionary"

5.Name: "ChartnetShared"

6.Server Type: "Remote"

7.Adssys password: (leave blank)

8.Database: [drive]:\chartnet\system\shared

9.On the "Security Tab", check "Logins Required"

10.For "Internet Access", check "Enabled"

11.The newly created dictionary will appear in the left panel

12.Right click and "Disconnect"

13.Right click and "Connect"

14.Drop down "Users"

15.Right click on "Adssys" and check "Enable Internet Access"
