ChartNet uses a report writer product called R&R Report Writer. In order for the R&R Report Writer to access the Advantage Database, an ODBC Data Source must be created. This must be done on each server that is acting as an Application Server. It does not need to be done on the Database Server unless the Database server is also used for Applications.
1.Open "Administrative Tools"
2.Select "Data Sources (ODBC)"
3.Click "System DSN" tab
4.Click "Add"
5.Select driver "Advantage Streamline SQL ODBC"
6.For "Data Source Name", enter "chartnet_shared"
7.For "Database or Dictionary Path", in the edit box, enter the UNC path to the \system\shared\ folder.
8.Click OK
Note: If using a 64 Bit OS and 64 Bit Advantage Database, you need to create the ODBC connection by using the odbcad32.exe that is located in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ directory. Use the same instructions when creating a 32 bit connection.
Server 2008 will NOT add 32 bit system DSNs.
Failing to do this will result in errors while running statistical reports.
