ChartNet requires a server that will act as an "Application Server" in order to run background processes, act the front-end for remote users connecting in to ChartNet, and for running the Web Portal(S). For low volume accounts, the Database Server can be used as the Application Server. For moderate volume accounts, a separate Application Server is recommended. For high volume accounts, multiple Application Servers may be required. A virtual machine can be used as an Application server.
