When installing the ChartNet Client Console on Microsoft Vista, the “User Account Control” feature (abbreviated as UAC) must be turned OFF before installing ChartNet. The UAC feature forces users that are part of the local administrators group to run like they were regular users, with no administrative privileges. Vista enables the UAC automatically, forbidding users to add new software. For that reason, you must turn it off when installing ChartNet. You may turn the UAC back to ON after installation is completed.
Turn OFF the User Control Feature in Vista: |
•Open the Control Panel
•Click User Accounts and Family Safety
•Click User Accounts
•Click Turn User Account Control on or off
•Uncheck the box Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer
•You must restart your computer for the settings to take effect.
•You may now install the ChartNet Client Console. Once you have installed ChartNet, follow these steps again to Turn User Account Control ON.
