To print reports to a printer located on a remote server or LAN, follow the steps below.
Note: Requires a remote server running the ChartNet Remote Server software.
1.Install the printer on the remote server using the Windows standard technique. Give the printer a descriptive name, such as "2-EAST".
2.Write down the model and printer name that was just installed. It will be needed later when setting up the printer device.
3.On the host server, install the exact same printer driver. For the printer name, use the default name that the driver came up with. Example: "HP Laserjet 2200 PCL". Note: The same printer driver can be shared amongst many different remote printers, so it is necessary to only install each model of printer once.
4.Create a Printer Device for the site
1.Device type: Printer
2.Device location: Remote
3.Windows Printer name: (select the proper printer driver from the drop down)
4.Override Printer name: (type in the name of the printer that matches the printer name on the remote server) (!! Very important !!)
5.Assign the Printer Device to the appropriate forms.
