Users may add entries to ExpandType through the ExpandType Maintenance window or with the ExpandType QuickAdd feature. ExpandType Maintenance is accessible in both the ChartNet and voice recognition Editors, as well as from the main ChartNet Client Console. The ExpandType Quick Add is only accessible when transcribing or editing documents.
The ExpandType Maintenance window
Macro abbreviations, or what is typed to expand into the macro, are limited to 10 characters. Abbreviations may be any combination of letters or numbers. ExpandType only accepts lowercase letters.
When adding entries to ExpandType, you may categorize macros into groups, allowing you to quickly filter your library. For example, you may group oncology macros with the group code ONC, and cardiology macros with the code CARD. Group codes may only be added via ExpandType Maintenance.
Once added to your library, macros can only be edited or deleted via the ExpandType Maintenance window.
