When working with a draft document, as the audio plays, the word spoken in the audio is highlighted.

The cursor and playback highlighter move together, along with the audio. When you press the left or right arrow key or begin typing, the cursor automatically separates from the playback highlighter. After separation from the cursor, the playback highlighter continues moving forward with the spoken text.

If the playback highlighter advances too far ahead, CTRL+SHIFT+F12 will begin playback from the current cursor position.

The playback highlighter highlights each word as it is dictated, carrying the edit cursor with it. With this feature, the MT can continue listening while editing the word that was just spoken.

Example of playback highlighter while connected to the cursor:

CONCORD_PB_CONNECT

Using the LEFT-ARROW or RIGHT-ARROW key will separate the playback highlighter. When separated, the playback highlighter turns light green in color and the text cursor will flash. You can also separate the cursor and playback highlighter by typing your edit; however, you will overwrite whatever the playback highlighter is highlighting at that moment.

Example of playback highlighter while disconnected from the cursor:

CONCORD_PB_DISCON

Once you are finished editing, to reattach the playback highlighter to the cursor, press CTRL+F12.

CONCORD_PB_REATTACH

By using either the mouse or the keyboard shortcuts, the playback highlighter can be moved to a different location in the draft document. The keyboard shortcuts are the quickest way to rewind and fast forward through audio. A double click of the mouse will return to a previous section.

Double Clicking with the Mouse. Double clicking on any word with the mouse will begin playback at that point.

Using the Keyboard. It is possible to loop audio using the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+F12. If a section of audio requires listening to multiple times, place the text cursor at the beginning of the segment. Play the audio, and when the segment has played, use the shortcut to return to the text cursor, creating an audio segment loop. When making an edit, maintain playback – don’t pause the audio. Allow the audio to run and when finished with the edit, reconnect the playback highlighter using CTRL+F12 to move playback to the current text cursor.

Important Note: CTRL+SHIFT+F12 will only work when the highlighter and text cursor are already separated.
